The Town of Oliver will commence its 2013 water main flushing program:
In-town on Tuesday, May 21st, 2013
Rural Areas on Monday, May 27th, 2013
The Oliver Cemetery, located at 1068 Rockcliffe Road, is planned and administered out of Town hall.
In 1999, municipal council adopted a new master plan for the cemetery. This plan emphasizes a memorial park theme for the cemetery, where the public is encouraged to enter, stroll and enjoy this serene facility. Creative new sections are planned for future development as demand for spaces spreads across the park.
The recently-completed gazebo and sitting area are only a start. Watch for future development of the Terrace Section complete with pathways and memorial walls. An addition to the north-west corner of the cemetery is now under application to provide an ash scattering garden in a natural local setting of sage and antelope brush.
Donations to the cemetery are always welcome, either in memory of a loved one or simply as a gift to the community. Popular donations include trees or sitting benches. A full gift giving catalogue is being prepared and will be posted on this site as soon as it is complete. For now, please contact the Town hall at 485-6200 for further information.
Burial arrangements are typically arranged by funeral homes, however, you may make arrangements personally if you prefer, by calling the town office. Cemetery fees are set by bylaw at a level which attempts to cover annual operating costs and set aside fees for perpetual care of the facility after it is full.
Space reservations are not available at the Oliver Cemetery, except to save spaces for spouses next to new grave spaces.
You can download a PDF version of the Cemetery Bylaw, which includes all fees and regulations related to this facility by clicking here. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader (available free) installed on your computer to view this file.
