Finance

Finance

Funding for municipalities comes from four main sources; property taxes (including frontage and parcel taxes), user fees (sale of services such as water, sewer, garbage and recycling), interest earned on investments and outside grants and donations.  Property taxes are one of the Town's biggest revenue sources and are critical for the health and livability of our Town. Property tax levies are based on assessed value and are allocated based on classes.  The assessments and classes are set by the BC Assessment Authority.

EFFECTIVE 2019 ALL IN-TOWN IRRIGATION WILL BE INCLUDED ON AN ANNUAL IRRIGATION INVOICE INSTEAD OF ON THE PROPERTY TAX NOTICE.

2019 Property Taxes

Property taxes for 2019 will be sent out the last week of May and will be due July 2, 2019.  It is important to claim your Home Owner Grant and pay your taxes by the due date to avoid penalties.  (The penalty applies to any unclaimed Home Owner Grants).  If you do not receive your notice, please contact the Finance Department at finance@oliver.ca or 250-485-6203.

Utility Invoices

Utility invoices for Jan to Mar 2019 will be going out the middle of April.  Water, sewer, garbage and recycling are included on the utility bill and are sent out quarterly in April, July, October and January 2020.  Annual irrigation bills are sent out in August of every year.  For further information please contact the Finance Department at finance@oliver.ca.

In accordance with the Community Charter any unpaid utilities at December 31st that are 30 or more days will be transferred to property taxes as arrears.

If you would like to receive your bill by email, please fill out the online form here.

Failure to receive your property tax notice or utility invoice does not negate the responsibility of the property owner to pay for tax levies, fees and/or rates established by bylaw and any unpaid balances after the due date will be subject to applicable penalties.
