The Town of Oliver, in co-operation with Interior Health, has issued a Water Quality Advisory for domestic water customers recently switched over from System 1 water to ‘In-Town’ water effective immediately. This includes customers on Tuc-el-Nuit Road, Vineyard Road and in McGowan Subdivision.
Recent sampling has detected elevated bacterial counts in the water supply.
Interior Health and the Town of Oliver recommend that children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems, and anyone seeking additional protection seek a safe, alternate water source, or boil their water. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute and allowed to cool before use, for those choosing to boil their water.
As of July 23, 2010, Town of Oliver staff has implemented disinfection by injection of sodium hypochlorite into the previously unchlorinated well water. Increased monitoring and sampling will be conducted until this problem has been resolved. Customers will be notified when conditions change or when water quality has improved. For more information, please contact the Town of Oliver Public Works Department at 250-485-6213.
We thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this issue. |
