Well water supplied to Town of Oliver customers is tested periodically for various impurities and compared to Canadian Drinking Water Quality Guidelines.

Water being supplied to Oliver residents meets drinking water quality guidelines and is safe to drink.

In 2008, testing of two of the four in-town wells (Lions Park and CPR) showed uranium concentrations exceeding the Maximum Allowable Concentration of 0.02 mg/l specified in the Canadian Drinking Water Quality Guidelines. In response, these two wells (CPR and Lions Park) are currently turned off and water is being supplied from Rockcliffe and Tuc-el-nuit wells only, which both meet the guidelines.

Town officials are working in cooperation with the Interior Health Authority to plan and design options for alternate water sources to supply the additional capacity needed during the summer months. A public meeting is proposed this spring to fully outline the Town’s options and to address questions from water customers.
