Water Meters

Water Meters

The Town of Oliver, with funding assistance from the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia, has commenced its universal water meter installation program for all of its water service customers.

Many customers already have meters installed, either as a result of recent construction or as part of the Phase 1 & 2 domestic water twinning project that was undertaken from 2007-2012 in rural water systems. An overview of meter installation scheduling is provided below (If you are in the rural area, your system number is indicated on your last year’s water bill.):

  • Rural Systems 6 & 7: Water meters were previously installed during the Phase 1 water twinning project in 2007 and 2008.
  • Rural System 4: Water meters will be installed during the phase 2 water twinning project in 2009 and 2010.
  • Rural System 2 and Rural System 5: Water meters will be installed by the Town’s contractor in 2009.
  • Inside Town boundaries: Water meters will be installed by the Town’s contractor in 2009 & 2010.
  • Rural System 1: Some water meters will be installed during the phase 2 water twinning project in 2009 and 2010, along Vineyard Road & McGowan Subdivision areas.
  • ?Rural System 1: with continued grant funding from Phase 2 in 2011 & 2012, the Town was able to use excess funds and continue twinning and meter installations in this system, west side of river from the Town to Island Road.
  • Rural Agricultural Services: These services will be addressed at some future date.

If you have a domestic water meter, you are now on a new quarterly billing system showing you your base rate and water consumption. The Town only has a remaining 46 customers in system 1 who are not twinned and metered. We will continue to look for funding to complete the next phase in the near future.
