Mayor Johansen Message COVID-19

Staying Safe and Extending Condolences

This holiday season will be unlike any other and we may be missing the usual gatherings and celebrations. It is time to pause and remember joys from past holidays. Oliver is a strong, caring community and we can keep our families and friends safe and well through a bit of creativity and determination. Together we can limit transmission within the community by keeping to our immediate family this holiday season. Keep your bubble tight and reduce interactions with people you do not know.

The outbreak at McKinney Place in Oliver has escalated in such a short time, I ask every resident of Oliver to listen to the words of Dr. Henry to take the virus seriously and follow the guidelines to protect yourself, your family, and your community. “I am deeply saddened to learn of our community’s first fatality with regards to the COVID-19 virus, and I extend condolences to the family at this time on behalf of Oliver Council. Our thoughts and prayers are with those effected by this outbreak”, said Mayor Martin Johansen.

Oliver Residents, on behalf of Council, I wish you all a healthy and safe Christmas and New Year, and like everyone we are looking forward to a better future a year from now.
