Packinghouse Lane to close permanently to facilitate a multi-use pedestrian pathway
Contractors will begin the reconstruction of Packinghouse Lane near the north entrance of the Mall, Co-op Avenue and Airport Street on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. It is expected that the project will continue through to September 15, 2022.
Packinghouse Lane will be permanently closed to facilitate a multi-use pedestrian pathway. Additional infrastructure works include re-configuring the intersection at the north entrance of the Mall, Packinghouse Lane and Co-op Avenue to a safer standard. Water service will be also brought to the new BC Housing development at 5931 Airport Street, and upgrades on Airport Street and Packinghouse Lane that includes new sidewalk, curbs and storm drains.
The motoring public can expect temporary traffic control throughout the construction period at various locations. Drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians are asked to be aware of crews in the area and follow all safety directions. Thank you for your patience during this construction.
