Lion's Park Development Project - Oliver Pump Track!
Guided by the Park Improvement Plan (2017), Oliver & District Recreation Plan (2024), and current recreation trends, a new active recreation amenity for Lion’s Park was included in the 2026 Capital Finance Plan.
From January 16 to February 16, Recreation staff consulted the community on three concepts: a Pump Track, Parkour/Action Park, and Nature-Based Playground. All three received support, but the Pump Track was the clear favourite, receiving the most survey support (38.36%), the most positive social media feedback, and the highest overall preference ranking (50%).
Based on this feedback, staff selected the Pump Track concept and completed Phase 3: Evaluation, Feasibility and Design. Work completed to date includes environmental review, site surveying, geotechnical testing, drainage planning, and research into materials and costs. In April, staff contracted Canadian Ramp Company (CRC) and Velosolutions Canada West Ltd. to develop a preliminary pump track design. Together, these firms are recognized leaders in action sports facility design and pump track development in Canada.
