Extreme Heat Warnings
The Town of Oliver is encouraging residents to be prepared for an upcoming heat wave. The hot weather is expected to arrive on Sunday, July 7, 2024 and settle in for at least one week.
As this is the first major heat event of the summer, please take a few steps to ensure you are prepared! Here are some tips:
Check in on neighbours, friends, and family members
Stay in the shade, stay hydrated, wear clothing and a hat while outdoors
Put together an emergency kit for potential power outages
Looking for an indoor place to cool down?
Okanagan Regional Library Oliver Branch has amended their hours and they are now open Monday – Saturday during the day
Contact the Oliver Senior Centre at 250-498-6142 if you are a senior and looking for some indoor activities
The Town of Oliver is working with local not-for-profit organizations to open cooling centres on days it is forecasted to be 35 degrees Celsius or hotter:
