Public input sought on 2024 Operating Budget and 2024-2028 Capital Plan

The Town of Oliver is seeking public input on Municipal spending priorities for 2024, as part of the annual budget engagement process.

The 2024 provisional operating budget and 2024-2028 capital plan (found here https://pub-oliver.escribemeetings.com) presented to Council at a Special Open Budget Meeting on February 9th included a proposed property tax funding requirement increase of 5.5%. The budget includes a forecast of revenues and expenditures, taking into account the impact of rising costs and service delivery challenges. Different scenarios for the 2024 Tax Rate Multipliers were presented to Council at the Regular Open Meeting on February 20th in order to reduce the tax impacts to business and light industry classes due to the significant property assessment increases.

You can watch a recording of the previous two Special Open Budget Meetings and the Regular Open Council meeting on the Town’s website. (https://pub-oliver.escribemeetings.com)

Council’s final review of the 2024-2028 Financial Plan, including the property tax increase will be at the Regular Open Council meeting on Monday, March 11th at 7:00pm. Public Feedback in advance of the meeting will help inform Council’s decision.
