Town of Oliver Seeking Community Feedback on Filming Policy

The Town of Oliver is inviting residents, businesses, and community members to provide feedback on its draft Filming Policy.

As part of the Town’s ongoing efforts to support economic development while maintaining a high quality of life for residents, the policy is intended to guide film productions within the community. It establishes clear requirements for filming activities while balancing the benefits of the film industry with the need to minimize disruption to residents, businesses, and municipal services.

The Town experienced its first filming activity during the summer of 2025, providing an opportunity to better understand the impacts - both positive and negative - on the community. Feedback from those who were affected will help ensure the policy reflects local priorities and supports a balanced approach moving forward.

“We see value in welcoming the film industry to Oliver, but it’s important that we get this right for our residents and businesses,” said Mayor Martin Johansen. “We’re asking for input from anyone who had experience with filming in our community so we can develop a policy that works for everyone.”

Community members are encouraged to share their experiences, including what worked well and where improvements could be made. Input received will be used to refine the policy before it is finalized by Council.

The draft Filming Policy and feedback questionnaire are available at www.oliver.ca/filmpolicy, and submissions will be accepted until July 10, 2026.
