Social Development
The Social Development Plan is the guiding framework to help the Town of Oliver improve community safety and well-being, coordinate social initiatives, respond to changing provincial and federal policy landscapes and build long-term capacity for social development. Our vision is to create a safer and more well Oliver. We will achieve this through collaboration, sustainability and inclusive planning that builds on what's already working.
Social Development Plan
In December 2024, Council adopted the Town of Oliver's first ever Social Development Plan. The Social Development Plan serves as a clear vision and set of guiding principles to enable formal action in supporting equality and social well-being in Oliver.
The Social Development Plan is a roadmap to guide the areas of focus, in addition to where other partners have key roles in implementing social initiatives, both of which have social impacts. It solidifies the responsibilities and commitments of the Town in promoting a better quality of life for all community members.
A Social Development Plan endorses a community capacity building approach by considering how existing assets can be enhanced, and/or how new pathways are created to respond to priority areas. The Social Development Plan offers a structure that assists with coordinating the activities, communications, community alignment, relationships and assets that spur social change through meaningful and proactive leadership to the social services sector.
